How many classrooms do you have at Learning Tree Academy?

In Guelph, we have 8 classrooms in total. 2 Infant rooms, 2 Toddler rooms, and 4 Preschool rooms.

In Vaughan, we have 6 classrooms in total. 1 Infant room, 2 Toddler rooms, and 2 Preschool rooms.

What ages are the children in each of the classrooms?

Infant (6 months to 17 months)
Toddler (18 months to 29 months)
Preschool (30 months to 3.8 years)

What is your child to teacher ratio?

The ratios vary depending on the age of the children, as younger children require more hands-on care than older children.
Infant Classroom: 1 teacher for every 3 children
Toddler Classroom: 1 teacher for every 5 children
Preschool Classroom: 1 teacher for every 8 children

What will my child need on their first day of childcare at Learning Tree Academy?

Indoor and outdoor shoes
Water bottle
2 blankets for nap time
4 full extra changes of clothes
Diapers, wipes and diaper creams (if your child is not toilet trained)

Outdoor clothing for the season:

Winter – full snowsuit, hat, 2 pairs of mittens, warm winter boots, scarf, extra socks
Spring and Fall – light jacket, hat, rubber boots
Summer – sun hat, closed shoes or sandals with a secure back strap (no flip flops – safety hazard)

Infant specific:

Bottles
Snacks from home (must abide by our nutrition policy for healthy eating)
Breast milk and/or formula if using

Do you ensure that space is held for my child as they age out of their current classroom and transit

Yes.

Do you offer any part-time programs?

We only offer part-time options for the toddler and preschool programs. We define part-time as either 2 or 3 full days for a set schedule of days per week (example: full days for Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays). We do not offer a half day option. There is no part-time schedule option for the infant program.

What do you serve for meals and snacks?

You can find some of our menus under the nutrition section. All our lunches and snacks are made fresh and on-site by a qualified cook. If your child has any allergies, intolerance’s or dietary restrictions please notify us during the registration process and we will do what our best to accommodate your child’s individual needs.

How do you handle frozen or pumped breast milk or formula preparation?

Each infant classroom has a fridge/freezer to be able to store milk and/ or breast milk so that the staff has quick access to it as your child needs it throughout the day.

How often do you go outside to the playground?

Every classroom goes outside for one hour in the morning and one hour in the afternoon, weather permitting.

What type of security systems do you have at Learning Tree Academy?

The front door has a biometric (fingerprint scanner) system where only registered individuals will have access to the building. All other individuals will be escorted on to the premises by a staff member. There are also security cameras throughout the center for an added level of safety and security.

Do the children have a set time to take a nap?

The toddler and preschool classrooms each have a 2-hour nap/rest time where the lights are turned off and soothing music/ sounds play in the background to encourage a restful time.
The infant classrooms are set up so that nap time is provided for each child on an as needed basis.

How will help transition my child who may have separation anxiety?

We encourage families to come for short visits beforehand so that the child and family feel comfortable in the new environment. All of the classrooms have qualified Registered Early Childhood Educators who will do their best to help with making your little one feel comfortable in their new classroom. If your child would like to bring in something from home as a comfort item to aid with their transition, they are able to.
